A short history of

St. Joseph's Chaldean Catholic Church

The church was purchased through the support of our parishioners in London Ontario. The idea of buying the church was presented in the early 1990s, and endorsed by Bishop Zora, shepherd of the Good Shepherd Chaldean Church in Toronto. At that time the Toronto church was the Chaldean Community's only available church to attend for masses, baptisms, or other parish services. Therefore some of the brothers decided that buying a church would be a wise idea even though the community's families numbered only seventy. The idea was welcomed by all. After taking over the responsibility of the parish from Father David, Father Balo, with the help of Bishop Ebrahim of St. Thomas Chaldean Catholic Church in Michigan, endeavored to buy the church from the Catholic Parish of London Ontario. The name was changed from St. Joseph's Catholic Church to St. Joseph's Chaldean Catholic Church. Presently there are more than 100 families belonging to the parish under the spiritual guidance of Father Amer.
The Parish would like to thank all those individuals who help with spiritual support and who assist financially. Special thanks to Bishop Ebrahim for his helping hands, to Bishop Zora for encouragements and spiritual support, and to Father David who provided Sunday services until Father Balo took over upon purchase of the church.

 نبذة مختصرة

تم شراء الكنيسة بهمة الأهالي الساكنين في لندن بدأت الفكرة في بداية التسعينات من القرن الماضي بتشجيع معنوي من قبل سيادة المطران حنا زورا راعي كنيسة الراعي الصالح في تورنتو، إذ كانت حين ذاك المكان الوحيد الذي يلجأ إليه أبناء كنيستنا الكلدانية في كندا أثناء حاجتهم إلى عماذ أبنائهم أو للحصول على بعض الخدمات الخورنية. وعلى إثره قام بعض الأخوة الغيارى بطرح الفكرة كمقترح على أبناء الرعية الذين لم يتجاوز عددهم وقتئذ على السبعين عائلة، فلقيت الفكرة أستحسانا من الجميع. وبعد تسلم الأب سعيد بلو مسؤولية رعاية الخورنة في السنوات الأولى من القرن الحالي، قام بالدور الأكبر وبمساعدة الزائر الرسولي لكندا المطران أبراهيم أبراهيم راعي أبرشية مار توما الرسول في مشيغن- أمريكا بشراء الكنيسة من الأبرشية الكاثوليكية في لندن أونتاريو. وتم تبديل أسم الكنيسة من "مار يوسف الكاثوليكية" إلى "ماريوسف للكلدان الكاثوليك". وفي الخورنة الآن أكثر من مئة عائلة تحت رعاية الأب عامر ساكا

أهالي الخورنة يشكرون أصحاب الفضل الذين قاموا بخدمتهم روحيا وماديا وبشكل خاص يقدمون شكرهم للمطران أبراهيم أبراهيم الذي مد لهم يد العون، وسيادة المطران حنا زورا لتشجيعه وخدمته الروحية لهم والأب الفاضل داود بفرو الذي كان يقوم بأقامة القداديس لهم كل يوم أحد إلى أن عُين لهم الأب الفاضل سعيد بلو راعيا، الذي بهمته تم شراء الكنيسة
